Providence Medical Center Chiller Technical Analysis Study
Analysis: Energy model and Energy Trust of Oregon (ETO) Technical Analysis Report. Analysis for DDC controls re-programming, mechanical work for system optimization, variable speed condenser water, addition of fourth chiller and tower.
Aggregation of trend database files using Microsoft PowerQuery and conformance to a uniform timestep
Consolidate trends for the performance of the condenser water system, chilled water system, and overall plant performance using Excel
Regression analysis of the trend data was used to characterize performance of the chilled water flow, chilled water load below the change point, chilled water load above the change point, and overall plant input to output performance
Generate 8760 model of chilled water load and flow using regression model and TMY3 data
Generate baseline 8760 model of plant using plant regression model and TMY3 data
OpenStudio / EnergyPlus model of chilled water plant using the above 8760 chilled water load and flow profile
Evaluation of first cost and simple payback for:
New sequence of operations, programming, and retro-commissioning of existing chilled water plant
Install variable frequency drives on all condenser water pumps
Install a new, fourth water cooled chiller with cooling tower
